They do this for solid reasons, they also need to teach the children they love the "whys" - why we are able to believe what we believe. Anchored is a supplemental curriculum designed to be used alongside whatever curriculum a church is currently using to teach the "whys" and equip parents and grandparents to do the same at home. But for some reason we never focused on teaching the "whys" - why we are able to believe what we believe. While we absolutely must teach the "whats" we also must teach the "whys" - when we do not, we end up with the results we are seeing in families throughout our churches - where young people are turning away from their faith and many of them are turning to atheism (as Barna's research shows), and growing numbers of people are saying they do not believe the Bible is true (as Gallup's research shows.) Nearly all children went to Sunday school - even if their parents did not go to church - and along with learning to read, they were taught the Bible - as it was the main book they learned to read. These children also learned to write as they copied verses from the Bible. <span></span></span></p><a name='more'></a><p></p><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><a name="more"></a></span></span><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></p><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><a name="more" style="background-color: #f9fefe;"></a></span></span><p style="background-color: #f9fefe;"></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Eventually in the 1870's week-day school began and children learned to read and write during the week, but Sunday school was still a valued part of most children's childhood. Churches typically used their denomination's published children's curriculum but most of them taught a overview of "main" Bible accounts.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Today, while some churches continue to use their denomination's curriculum, there are many curriculum options available. Churches tend to put thought and prayer into choosing which curriculum resource they will use in their Children's Ministry - and some churches even write their own curriculum.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" style="text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> is a curriculum option which is designed to help you teach the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe AND what is the difference it makes to my everyday life for me to know what the Bible teaches.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Teaching the "whats" has been part of church for hundreds of years and there are solid reasons for doing so, but just as there was a point in time where they began to teach the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe, and what is the difference it makes for me to know these things, now is the point in time where we need to also realize the need for teaching the "whys" - why we are able to believe what we believe.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">It is clear by looking at the families in your church and community, more and more young people are leaving the faith they once had. Many of them would not leave their faith if they knew <i>why</i> they are able to believe, so why wouldn't we teach the "whys"? When we teach the "whys" we are equipping the children in our church and community so they are able to have a confident faith.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">When we only teach the "whats" we are only doing half of what we need to do. The new poll showed, what was to me, a shocking result - only 20% of people believe the Bible is the literal Word of God - only 20%. This is the lowest percentage since they began taking this poll in 1976. Even more shocking to me, this is the first time more people - 29% - "<span style="background-color: white;"><i>say the Bible is a collection of 'fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man.</i>'" They went on to say, <i>"</i></span><i><span style="background-color: white;">This marks the first time significantly more Americans have viewed the Bible as not divinely inspired than as the literal word of God.</span><span style="background-color: white;">"<span></span></span></i></span></p><a name='more'></a><p></p><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><a name="more" style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></a></span><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></p><span face="Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif" style="background-color: #fafefd;"><i><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><a name="more"></a></span></span></i></span><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The study also showed 49% believe the Bible is inspired by God, but parts are not to be taken literally. Ever since Sunday school began we have been teaching children the "whats" and children have been learning the "whats". God promises His Word will not return empty to Him, so when children learn the "whats", God is able to use His Word to work in their lives. Yet, while many of the children we love hold on to the faith they began as a child, more and more of them are not.<span></span></span></span></span></p><a name='more'></a><p></p><span style="font-size: large;"><a name="more" style="background-color: #fefdfa; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"></a></span><p style="background-color: #fefdfa; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"></span></span></p><span style="background-color: #fefdfa; font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a name="more" style="background-color: #fafefd;"></a></span></span><p style="background-color: #fafefd; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: large;">Barna's studies show Gen Z is turning away from faith to atheism at double the rate of any previous generation - they expect this number to increase by 2030. The current Gallup poll shows only 20% of American adults believe the Bible is true - this is the smallest percentage since they began taking their poll. You likely have families in your church where this is happening and even someone in your family who once believed and no longer does. Even if you do not, you likely have friends who do.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: large;">Teaching the "whats" matter, but only teaching the "whats" is not enough. We must also teach the "whys" - why we are able to believe God is real, the Bible is true, God and science DO go together, and God is good - if we want to equip the children we love with a confident faith. God tells us in 1 Peter 3:15 He wants us (and certainly the children we love) to always be prepared to defend what we believe. In Colossians 4:6 we are told to speak carefully so we always know how to answer each person. Knowing the "whys" matters and is Biblical.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: large;">So, yes, absolutely teach the "whats", but yes, absolutely also teach the "whys". Anchored is designed to engage children ages four through fourteen in teaching, activities, and discussion which will equip them to know the "whys" - why they are able to believe God is real, the Bible is true, God and science DO go together, and God is good! It is written to equip churches to do this in their classes AND provides resources for families to use at home as well.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; letter-spacing: -0.06px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: large;">We are able to help the children in our ministries and families grow up so they are able to "<i>hold firmly to the trustworthy Word</i> <i>as they have been taught"</i> - but for this to happen, we must teach it. This is not something we have to just sit back and accept. We are able to do something about it. We are able to hand down confident faith and doing this involves teaching the children we love both the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe - and teaching them the "whys" - why we are able to believe what we believe.<span></span></span></span></p><a name='more'></a><p></p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a name="more" style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></a></span><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></p><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a name="more" style="background-color: #fafefd;"></a></span></span><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">Most churches and many families do at least a decent job of teaching the "whats", but few, if any, teach the "whys". Josh McDowell says, "<i>Belief is knowing what we believe. Conviction is knowing why we believe it.</i>" He is right. If we want the ones we love to have conviction in regards to their faith, we must teach them the "whys" - and there are many, solid reasons why!</span></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">This is why I developed a curriculum supplement which will equip churches and families to work together to teach the children they love the "whys". This curriculum is called "Anchored" and is one churches will use with the curriculum they are already using. They will take just a few minutes in large group time each Sunday to introduce another of the "whys", and then spend another few minutes in small group time to teach more about the weekly "why". </span></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">Then during the week families are able to spend time in their homes learning the "whys" while they talk and engage in meaningful activities. Anchored will help churches/parents/ grandparents team up to teach the "whys" so the children they love know what they believe and why they are able to believe it!</span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">Check out sample lessons at this <a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/p/sample-lesson.html" style="text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">link</a> and order it at this <a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/p/bookstore.html" style="text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">link</a>. Plan now to use Anchored to teach the "whys" alongside whatever curriculum you currently use to teach the "whats" - and equip the parents and grandparents to use it in their homes with the children they love. When you do this, you will have children who are able to hold on to their faith throughout their lives and who have a confident faith.</span></p><div style="background-color: #fafefd;"><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#handdownconfidentfaith</a><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"> </span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#anchored</a><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"> </span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#teachthewhys</a></span></p></div>Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7772494361278190043.post-63439323257162519762023-03-09T06:51:00.004-05:002023-03-09T06:51:54.740-05:00Why Another Curriculum? There are several reasons, but the biggest one is because </span><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" style="font-family: arial;" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a><span style="font-family: arial;"> does several unique things -</span></span></p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><a name='more'></a></span></span><p></p><p></p><ul><li><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> focuses on an important topic for an entire year. Most curriculum resources hop, skip, and jump around the Bible teaching about Bible people and events. The first year of <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> takes a year to teach children what the Bible says about Grace. The first quarter focuses upon our need for Grace, the second quarter focuses upon our challenge to choose God's Grace, the third quarter looks at how our lives are changed by Grace, the first month of the fourth quarter reviews what children learned about Grace, and the rest of the quarter dives into what Jesus had to say about Grace. By the end of the year children will not only have "met" Bible people and learned about Bible events, but they will know what Grace is, why they need it, and how it changes their lives! This focus moves children past just learning about Bible people/events to understanding what God wants them to know about important topics - such as Grace. </span></li><li><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> engages children so they help teach the Bible lesson for the week. Studies consistently show we remember 5% to 10% of what we see/hear, but 95% of what we teach others, so why do we sit children down and have them just listen to us as we teach them the most important things - what the Bible says, what difference it makes in their everyday lives to know this, and why they are able to believe? Each week with <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> the children in your ministry will be engaged in helping the teacher teach - they will be able to remember what happened in class! This matters because if they do not remember, they will not understand. If they do not understand, they will not know how to live God's Word. If they do not live it, their lives will not change. But with <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> their lives will change because they will know how to live God's Word, because they will understand it, because they will remember it! <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> is designed to be memorable because children help teach!</span></li><li><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> has a unified <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/2023/02/deeper-in-for-children-scope-sequence.html" target="_blank">scope and sequence</a>. Yes, there are other curriculum resources which offer this, but the scope and sequence for <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> is unified for all age levels preschool through elementary. We want families to continue the learning throughout the week, but if the children all learned different Bible lessons at church it is much more challenging for families to continue the learning at home. <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> makes it easier for families to continue the learning since all the children learned the same Bible event at church.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> has intentional Bible memory. Each month children learn one verse/passage, but do so intentionally. The first week of the month children learn the verse. The second week they focus upon what the verse means. The third and fourth weeks they focus on how they are able to live what they learned. Memorizing God's Word has to be about more than just putting words in the right order. With <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> the focus is on understanding and living God's Word!</span></li><li><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">Many churches offer a second service/Children's Church, so with <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> along with providing Sunday School curriculum you will receive optional second service/Children's Church lessons as well. If you do not have a second service, but have a longer Sunday School, the resources you will find each week in the optional second service will provide options for you to use in your ministry on Sunday and/or during your mid-week ministry. There is no extra charge for the optional second service resources!</span></li><li><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> is designed to help children learn to talk with God by praying Scripture back to God! We tell children to pray and while some children do this, others struggle with how to talk with someone they are not able to see. Praying Scripture back to God is a great way to pray and with <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> you will be able to equip children how to do this!</span></li><li><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> does a fantastic job of teaching the "whats" - what the Bible says and what is the difference it makes in my life to know these things, but it also equips you to teach children the "whys" - why we are able to believe God is real, the Bible is true, God and science DO go together, and God is good because <a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Anchored</a> supplemental curriculum is included with <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> at no extra charge to you! </span></li><li><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">You might think <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> must be expensive to include all these features and resources, but I believe curriculum should not be one of a church's biggest expenses, so one quarter of <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> is just $50 a quarter - for all ages! Yes, you will receive preschool through elementary digital curriculum for just $50 and if you order a full year at one time, you will be able to do so for just $150! <a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> is a digital curriculum so you are welcome to email the teacher materials to your volunteers/staff or print them - whichever you choose, but your cost each quarter will be only $50 or if you buy it once a year it will be only $150!</span></li></ul><div><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Yes, there are many curriculum resources available for churches to use in their Children's Ministry - many of them are excellent. But </span><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" style="font-family: arial;" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> <span style="font-family: arial;">offers your church a focus and features you will not find in other curriculum resources at a price which makes a difference. </span><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" style="font-family: arial;" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a><span style="font-family: arial;"> will be available in a few weeks - I will have new samples lessons in a few days as I have been working on making them better! Nearly all children went to Sunday school - even if their parents did not go to church - and along with learning to read, they were taught the Bible - as it was the main book they learned to read. Churches typically used their denomination's published children's curriculum but most of them taught a overview of "main" Bible accounts.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; color: #333333;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">Today, while some churches continue to use their denomination's curriculum, there are many curriculum options available. Churches tend to put thought and prayer into choosing which curriculum resource they will use in their Children's Ministry - and some churches even write their own curriculum.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; color: #333333;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> is one such curriculum - it is designed to help you teach the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe AND what is the difference it makes to my everyday life for me to know what the Bible teaches.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; color: #333333;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">Teaching the "whats" has been part of church for hundreds of years and there are solid reasons for doing so, but just as there was a point in time where they began to teach the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe, now is the point in time where we need to also realize the need for teaching the "whys" - why we are able to believe what we believe.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fafefd; color: #333333;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">It is clear by looking at the families in your church and community, more and more young people are leaving the faith they once had. Most churches tend to do an acceptable job of teaching children the Bible accounts, but do not always do a strong job of teaching children what difference it makes in their lives to know what the Bible says. It is essential for children to learn what the Bible says AND learn what the difference is it makes in their lives to know these things. We must teach both.</span></span></p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><a name='more'></a></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">AND, along with teaching the "whats" - what the Bible says and what the difference is it makes in their lives to know these things, we also must teach the "whys". Barna's studies show our older children, youth, and young adults are turning away from their faith to atheism at double the rate of any previous generation. Yes, at double the rate. We all know people who are struggling through the pain of having their children, grown children, grandchildren who once had a strong faith, now turn away from their faith. This does not have to continue to happen, but if we want it to stop, we MUST teach the "whys" - why we are able to believe.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a> provides the tools you need to teach children in your church and community both of the "whats" AND the "whys" because when you buy </span><a href="https://childrengodeeper.blogspot.com/" style="font-family: arial;" target="_blank">Deeper In for Children</a><span style="font-family: arial;"> you also receive for free <a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Anchored</a> supplemental curriculum. </span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="font-family: arial;" target="_blank">Anchored</a><span style="font-family: arial;"> provides the tools you need to teach the "whys". The new poll showed, what was to me, a shocking result - only 20% of people believe the Bible is the literal Word of God - only 20%. This is the lowest percentage since they began taking this poll in 1976. Even more shocking to me, this is the first time more people - 29% - "<span style="background-color: white;"><i>say the Bible is a collection of 'fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man.</i>'" They went on to say, <i>"</i></span></span><span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="background-color: white;">This marks the first time significantly more Americans have viewed the Bible as not divinely inspired than as the literal word of God.</span><span style="background-color: white;">"</span></i></span></p><span style="font-size: large;"><i><span style="background-color: white;"><span><a name='more'></a></span></span></i></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">The study also showed 49% believe the Bible is inspired by God, but parts are not to be taken literally. (You will find the entire report at this <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/394262/fewer-bible-literal-word-god.aspx?fbclid=IwAR0Nh9dNmhPCjq95tRixkcP1enGxVFtzBktqZKXndXUmAk2WGteXC4z98iw" target="_blank">link</a>.)</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Now, more than ever, it matters for parents/grandparents/the church to focus on teaching the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe - and the "whys" - why we are able to believe. When the children only learn the "whats", they may go on to believe all their lives, but as the polls show, more and more of them are not continuing to believe. We must teach the "whys" so they are able to know with confidence why they believe what they believe.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Anchored releases tomorrow - July 8, 2022 - plan to get your copy and teach the "whys" this year - clearly it matters for us to do this more than ever.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #04ff00; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: #fafefd; line-height: 27px;"><o:p> </o:p></span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#handdownconfidentfaith</a><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"> </span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#anchored</a><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"> </span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#teachthewhys</a></span></p>Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7772494361278190043.post-49977922540249810072022-07-25T06:29:00.001-04:002022-07-25T06:29:20.778-04:00Use Anchored to Teach the "Whys" So Teaching the "Whats" "Sticks"<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-fnKXsx3xZVPqxDW4JpQlVJzzNA9nBasv0nlDDdlXmxKK7PnZkKNBDSuXVDGr5iRDiKXpsq5KhghpBHZfYrWMLNlqe4hGQMXW027sgBWGx0Mf8yarQT36GUqz-UjB5Qkwo1HuRPOFNrTuQDTrOr2eWhvtNTg4c8eocv3FMd3Tpu_TfYOtbzBM3qw/s500/anchored.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="500" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-fnKXsx3xZVPqxDW4JpQlVJzzNA9nBasv0nlDDdlXmxKK7PnZkKNBDSuXVDGr5iRDiKXpsq5KhghpBHZfYrWMLNlqe4hGQMXW027sgBWGx0Mf8yarQT36GUqz-UjB5Qkwo1HuRPOFNrTuQDTrOr2eWhvtNTg4c8eocv3FMd3Tpu_TfYOtbzBM3qw/w400-h400/anchored.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Your church puts a lot of time and money into teaching children the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe, but as Barna's studies and Gallup's Poll shows us more and more of the children in our ministries are growing up and turning away from their faith. How are you able to change this? By teaching the children in your ministry the "whys" - why they are able to believe God is real, the Bible is true, God and science DO go together, and God is good. You will find it in our bookstore at this <a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/p/bookstore.html" target="_blank">link</a>. For just the price of $26.00 you will receive an entire year of resources to use in your church and to equip parents and grandparents so they are able to team with you to hand down confident faith as they teach the "whys" at home.<span><a name='more'></a></span></span><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Clearly Barna's and Gallup's research shows while we may be teaching the "whats" (what the Bible says and therefore what we believe), far, far too many of the children we love are growing up and turning away from their faith. We NEED to teach the "whys" (why we are able to believe God is real, the Bible is true, God and science DO go together, and God is good) so the children are able to hold on to what they believe throughout their lives.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Teaching the "whats" and the "whys" are equally necessary and now with Anchored you are able to do both! Remember, Anchored is a supplemental curriculum - it is designed for you to use it alongside the curriculum you are currently using in your Children's Ministry - it is not designed to replace your curriculum. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Check out Anchored today and get your copy - plan to use it in your church and engage the parents and grandparents so they use it at home. The new poll showed, what was to me, a shocking result - only 20% of people believe the Bible is the literal Word of God - only 20%. This is the lowest percentage since they began taking this poll in 1976. Even more shocking to me, this is the first time more people - 29% - "<span style="background-color: white;"><i>say the Bible is a collection of 'fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man.</i>'" They went on to say, <i>"</i></span></span><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><i><span style="background-color: white;">This marks the first time significantly more Americans have viewed the Bible as not divinely inspired than as the literal word of God.</span><span style="background-color: white;">"<span><a name='more'></a></span></span></i></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">The study also showed 49% believe the Bible is inspired by God, but parts are not to be taken literally. We must teach the "whys" so they are able to know with confidence why they believe what they believe.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Anchored releases tomorrow - July 8, 2022 - plan to get your copy and teach the "whys" this year - clearly it matters for us to do this more than ever.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #04ff00; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: #fafefd; line-height: 27px;"><o:p> </o:p></span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#handdownconfidentfaith</a><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"> </span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#anchored</a><span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"> </span><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: #fefdfa; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#teachthewhys</a></span></p>Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7772494361278190043.post-31454396043429475852022-07-05T06:38:00.000-04:002022-07-05T06:38:16.500-04:00How Does Anchored Work?<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4khGVO8WUOKuSjk25F29Xlp0blX5Td_nSB9WOKN6E8IfMBIM76fXPsDH5k4yUIeD1yzezoF5E3y3t6Pm3lO_EDdsQvKCFjpI1izk_Qt6eXIErVT8NbLjkONQwnuIhCuAbQYPWzXHhIzbx8UcV7FLyuFBqXyvfdZwVUsPuopDjDNYC4nYUSKuvdpw/s500/Anchored%20logo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="500" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4khGVO8WUOKuSjk25F29Xlp0blX5Td_nSB9WOKN6E8IfMBIM76fXPsDH5k4yUIeD1yzezoF5E3y3t6Pm3lO_EDdsQvKCFjpI1izk_Qt6eXIErVT8NbLjkONQwnuIhCuAbQYPWzXHhIzbx8UcV7FLyuFBqXyvfdZwVUsPuopDjDNYC4nYUSKuvdpw/w400-h400/Anchored%20logo.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: large;">There

This is why churches invest so much time and money in choosing and using curriculum resources with the children in their churches – to teach them the “whats”.</span></span></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: #fefdfa; line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">There are solid reasons churches teach the “whats” – we want children to know what the Bible says, and therefore what we, as Christians, believe. Teaching the “whats” is a fully appropriate and necessary part of a strong and effective Children’s Ministry. But, along with teaching the “whats”, we also need to teach the “whys” – why we are able to believe the “whats”.<span></span></span></span></p><a name='more'></a><p></p><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><a name="more" style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></a></span><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: #fefdfa; line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><span style="line-height: 27px;">Sadly, few, if any, churches teach the “whys” – not even from their pulpits. This is one of the reasons we see so many of our young people turning away from their faith to atheism (as shown in the 2018 Barna study on atheism doubling among Generation Z – those born between 1999 and 2015 - </span><a href="https://www.barna.com/research/atheism-doubles-among-generation-z/" style="text-decoration-line: none;"><span style="line-height: 27px;">https://www.barna.com/research/atheism-doubles-among-generation-z/</span></a><span style="line-height: 27px;">) </span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: #fefdfa; line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">If we want this trend to stop – and we most certainly do, and if we want to see the families in our church spared the pain of watching as their loved children/grandchildren turn away from the faith they once had to atheism, and sadly more and more of them are doing this, then we must do something to be certain the children in our ministries are equipped with a confident faith. Yes, this means teaching the “whats”, but it also means teaching them the “whys” as well. They need to know what they believe <i>and</i> why they are able to believe it. As Josh McDowell says, “<i>Belief is knowing what you believe, conviction is knowing why you believe it</i>.”</span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: #fefdfa; line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">We need to teach the children in our churches the “whys” so when the day comes and they hear someone talk about whether they are able to really believe God is real, if the Bible is true, if science and the Bible go together, and if God is actually good, and this day will come, they will know the reasons “why” they believe these things. Teaching the “whys” equips the children we love so they are able to face questions and stand firm with a confident faith, so they are able to answer questions from their friends, family, teachers, or people they meet throughout their lives. Certainly this is what we want to see happen in their lives.</span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: #fefdfa; line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><i><span style="line-height: 27px;">Anchored curriculum for children</span></i><span style="line-height: 27px;"> is designed to supplement, not replace, the curriculum you are currently using in your Children’s Ministry. In Anchored you will find 52 weeks of “lessons” and activities for use in your church, along with activities for families to work on together at home each week – which will enable you to easily equip and engage parents and grandparents to teach the “whys” at home. As children learn the “whys” at church and at home, they will develop a firm conviction and a confident faith.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: #fefdfa; line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="line-height: 19.5px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#handdownconfidentfaith</a> <a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#anchored</a> <a href="https://anchored-teachthewhys.blogspot.com/" style="text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">#teachthewhys</a></span></span></p>Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7772494361278190043.post-45214224702716639692022-07-03T08:42:00.002-04:002022-07-03T08:42:33.586-04:00Anchored Releases This Week!<p><span style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="500" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpDbtCwTj6qbtCxxRblsP4Qi1Y37UfCfWdlIJI-DtLTj4wUJtgyxHxMBHGgi4tKyu0uyQUEW4WI5dzGeBx7MQ7CrxRcGFWa4sR9xLLmOKZVtwG6HCW1cU1K72U9A-wqjv6uXjc810Avvp0pdSnAyu9-3E0RQIdAahh_L4-n_zkx4oD0M8LydFqHQ/w400-h400/anchored.jpg" style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-radius: 5px; border: 1px solid rgb(204, 204, 204); box-shadow: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2) 0px 0px 20px; padding: 8px; position: relative;" width="400" /></span></span><span face="Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif" style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-size: large;">In your Children's Ministry you likely do at least a decent job of teaching the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe. There are significant reasons why it matters for you to teach the "whats" - but if you are not also teaching the "whys" - why we are able to believe God is real, the Bible is true, God and science DO go together, and God is good - then we are leaving the children in our ministries at risk of turning away from their faith to atheism as they grow older. Barna's research shows this is happening at double the rate of any previous generation - and they expect it to triple by 2030.<span></span></span></span></p><a name='more'></a><p></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">This does not have to happen - but to keep it from happening we must teach the "whys". This is not something we have to just sit back and accept. We are able to do something about it. We are able to hand down confident faith and doing this involves teaching the children we love both the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe - and teaching them the "whys" - why we are able to believe what we believe.<span></span></span></span></p><a name='more'></a><p></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: large;">Most churches and many families do at least a decent job of teaching the "whats", but few, if any, teach the "whys". Josh McDowell says, "<i>Belief is knowing what we believe. Conviction is knowing why we believe it.</i>" He is right. If we want the ones we love to have conviction in regards to their faith, we must teach them the "whys" - and there are many, solid reasons why!</span></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: large;">This is why I am working on a new curriculum supplement which will equip churches and families to work together to teach the children they love the "whys". This curriculum is called "Anchored" and is one churches will use with the curriculum they are already using. They will take just a few minutes in large group time each Sunday to introduce another of the "whys", and then spend another few minutes in small group time to teach more about the weekly "why". </span></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: large;">Then during the week families will spend time in their homes learning the "whys" while they talk and engage in meaningful activities. Anchored will help churches/parents/grandparents team up to teach the "whys" so the children they love know what they believe and why they are able to believe it!</span></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: large;">Stay tuned for more information as I complete this resource and please share the information with the leaders in your church. Anchored will not replace the curriculum they are using to teach the "whats", it will just equip them to also teach the "whys" - and equip the parents and grandparents to do the same! When we do this, we will be able to hand down confident faith which lasts to the children we all love!</span></p><p style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: large;">#handdownconfidentfaith #anchored #teachthewhys</span></p>Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0
